For those of you who do not know or have not seen it on the news, there has been lots of protesting against J*pan going on here (specifically the hotel we are staying at because the J*panese consulate is in our hotel). There was protesting on Sunday but it had cleared out by the time we arrived. They knew there would be more protesting today because today is the anniversary of when J*pan invaded China. When we left this morning to head to the Civil Affairs Office there wasn't too much going on but by the time we headed back crowds had grown. We had tried to go to Walmart but there were huge crowds and roads blocked off so we decided to skip that for today and try tomorrow. We headed back to the hotel where we have been the rest of the day. Mark took Bradley and Brayden down to the pool but they said the water was freezing so they didn't stay long. We can see the protesting from our hotel room and the crowds have grown throughout the afternoon. Seems to be mainly younger, college-aged students leading the protests. They were throwing bottles and things at the police and tried to get through to the consulate but the hotel is so heavily guarded by police and military that they couldn't do much of anything. Hopefully the peacefullness continues the rest of the day. Our guide said this should be the last of the protesting, hopefully she is right. More than anything it just puts a wrench into our day forcing us to stay indoors; you can only spend so much time in a hotel room with two boys.
Brayden continues to do well. The communication is difficult at times but day by day it will get better. He was up some during the night and it would have been nice to be able to ask him what he needed and tell him to go back to sleep. I had the guide ask him today and he said he was cold. He is not use to the AC one bit. When he went to bed all he wanted was his little blanket he brought from the orphanage and so of course he was cold. At one point he gave Bradley his little blanket and took Bradley's big blanket. We will give him more blankets tonight. Thankful to have Bradley here with him to play with him. They have a good time wrestling and being boys. Bradley is so patient with him and very helpful.
Tomorrow we apply for Brayden's passport and will hopefully make it to the Trust Mart (Walmart). 9 more days until we can head for home. Yes, I'm counting. I miss my girls...but so very thankful for Face Time and the free texting and calling Kevin hooked us up with. Until tomorrow... sleep tight friends!
